SBC Annual Meeting Report

Church Family,

Last week Melissa and I, along with Scott & Kellie Charbonneau, attended the Annual Meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) as messengers (representatives) of our church.  For me the highlight was the commissioning of 83 new missionaries to go to every part of the world where the International Mission Board (IMB) works today. This is what the SBC is all about…cooperating to take the gospel to the ends of the earth…and we each participate in this effort when we give to our church, as a portion of what is given is sent on to the Cooperative Program (CP). However, when the largest Protestant denomination in the United States gathers for a meeting of this magnitude, it always makes the national news. With that there is usually misunderstanding and honestly misreporting of facts and/or intentions, so linked below are five articles that speak to what happened at last week’s meeting, as well as address some of the more difficult topics. I would be happy to sit down and discuss any questions or thoughts you may have after you read these articles.

Sincerely,

Todd Campbell
Lead Pastor
