First Hurst Student Ministry
The foundation of the student ministry at First Hurst is based on three truths:
Students are valuable and have purpose because God made them. That purpose is only found in Jesus Christ. He gives life - eternally, abundantly, completely. True life begins and ends with Jesus. We want every student to know this truth. Accordingly, First Hurst Students provides a healthy, safe, and family-like community to explore the abundant life found in Jesus. And we have a lot of fun while we do it. It could be a late night shaving cream fight, roofing a home of a needy family, or teaching about Jesus in a remote village in another country. We share abundant life together.
God desires lifelong followers. Our aim and goal is to equip students to develop their own faith in order to become life-long followers of Jesus. While challenging students to find their meaning and purpose in the truth of God’s Word, we aim to surround them with caring adults who can equip them for the long journey of following Jesus more than for just a season.
God can equip students to change the world. Students are a vital part of our church. Teenagers are not the church of the future; they are the church of the present. In knowing, serving, and enjoying Christ, students can be a blessing to the church and to the greater community. First Hurst strongly believes that ministry is with students, not at them. God makes each student to fulfill a unique purpose in his Kingdom. It is our joy to help students find their place and purpose.

Bible Study Groups
On Sunday mornings our desire is to plant students firmly in the Bible by giving them the opportunity to study and grow, being led by gifted and called leaders who love Jesus and believe every scripture is God-breathed and beneficial.

Both Norwood and The Trails campuses offer a time for students to spiritually recharge during the week. Each week from 6:30 - 8:00. The Trails meets in the student building and Norwood meets in the student center.
Crossroads Student Choir
The student music ministry of First Hurst serves this purpose: to use music to not only worship God, but to represent who He is to those around us. Crossroads is made up of 7th-12th grade students and is open to anyone who is called to serve our Lord through music. The choir meets most Sunday evenings at 5pm and participates in our Norwood Campus worship services on various Sundays throughout the year. Additionally, the Crossroads Student Choir performs an annual True Love Concert each February and serves on a mission trip each summer.
Special Events
Disciple Now
This in-town weekend retreat is designed to take students to a deeper level in their relationship with Christ through powerful worship experiences and the opportunity to focus on spiritual disciplines (hence discipleship) such as fellowship, evangelism, missions, and prayer. Disciple Now in January on the weekend of MLK Day. Find out more.
Student Summer Camp
This summer at C2 2022, students have the opportunity to encounter God, grow in their faith, deepen relationships with their church family, and have a lot of fun. We’re going to Shepherd of the Ozarks camp outside of Harriet, Arkansas, where we’ll ride horses, explore the challenge course, go spelunking, hike, feed lemurs, and lazily float downstream. Cost is $375, and sibling discounts are available. Register here.
Parents
As a Student Ministry, we recognize that our ministry is not only to students. It's also our desire to partner with parents in discipling their students, while at the same time, ministering to them, the parents, throughout the journey. We strive to do this through various opportunities throughout the year.
