River Trails Campus

First Hurst is now ministering in the River Trails community. Here's what you can expect at the new River Trails Campus.

A casual fit...that's a great way to describe our River Trails Campus. It's not about the clothes you wear or the
car you drive. It's all about practical, uplifting messages (and by the way the preaching is live and in person, not on a screen), warm relationships, great music, and a casual atmosphere where folks from all generations come together and get spiritually recharged. Join us for worship on Sundays at River Trails Elementary.

Adult DNA Groups (Discover...Nurture...ACT)

Adults at the River Trails Campus worship and serve on Sunday mornings, and gather throughout the week either in homes or at our Norwood Campus in these verse-by-verse based groups that foster disciple-making through biblical community. DNA stands for Discover…Nurture…Act. Each time we meet, we nurture the relationships in our group, discover the truths of God's Word verse by verse and encourage one another to act on what we discover from God's Word. Feel free to contact the leaders below to find the fit that is best for you.

We believe it's possible to share the love of Christ with a child from the day of their birth. Here's what you can expect each week in Preschool ministry.

Foundational Truths

In every lesson we teach, your child will learn a foundational Biblical truth that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Checkin begins 15 minutes before each worship service. First-time guests will need to fill out a registration card. You'll then receive a numbered security sticker which serves as your child's name tag. You'll also receive a matching numbered security tag which is required to retrieve your child later. This numbered tag also helps us notify you in case of a medical or behavioral issue.

Because safety is a high priority for us in caring for your preschooler, you'll find carefully screened and trained volunteers, strict teacher-to-child ratios, and matching numbered security stickers.

Please label all of your child's belongings. Prepare your baby's bottle in advance, as volunteers do not spoon feed infants. Also note that we discourage children bringing their own toys into the class, as it is easy for them to be misplaced or forgotten.

Children with Special Needs

We provide a number of different options for children with special needs. Please contact Kellie Charbonneau, Pastor of Preschool Ministries, before your visit to get more information.

The Preschool area is located to your left as you enter through the north lobby entrance.

We're building foundations of faith in children through Christ-centered ministry that equips kids and families to know Christ, to grow in their walk with Christ, and to actively go and share Christ with others. Safety is a priority for us, so you'll find multiple adults in each children's classroom.

The Children's area is located in the gymnasium to your right as you enter through the north lobby entrance. Kids attend the first part of the Worship service on Sunday mornings and are then dismissed to meet in age-graded break-out groups using curriculum appropriate for specific age groups. First-time guests will need to fill out a registration card to turn in at the Children's registration desk. All kids will need to be checked in using KidCheck.

Students (Grades 7-12)

Our philosophy of ministry is:

For Students:  Other than being awesome and cool, we strive to point students toward a thriving relationship with Jesus Christ that lasts beyond their years in the Student Ministry.

For Parents:  Our goal is to equip parents to continue to be the primary disciple makers in their home. As much as we love discipling students, we will never get as much time with them as parents do.

Other than the last Sunday of the month, we all (7th-12th) meet togeter at 10:15 in the cafeteria for worship with the congregation. At 10:30 we begin our lesson, which will parallel what is taking place at the Norwood Campus. On the last Sunday of the month we stay in the corporate worship service for family worship.
