Pastor Search/Succession Team
Anticipating Pastor Jeff Burnett's planned retirement in December, 2020, the church body has wisely taken proactive steps to assemble a team of individuals who will recommend leadership for the next season in the life of First Hurst. The team began its work in late March, 2018. To keep the church posted on their progress, updates from the team will be posted on this site periodically. For any questions or thoughts you would like to share with the team directly, please feel free to send email communication to firstname.lastname@example.org. The team meets regularly and appreciates your input along this journey.
Our team meets regularly every other week as schedules allow. Some variation is expected through the summer due to various ministry opportunities (mission trips, camps) as well as vacation and work travels with committee members unable to attend. Our anticipated schedule in the fall is to resume regular gatherings every other week.

As we pass from summer into fall, our team continues to seek what God has for us regarding future leadership direction at First Hurst. Outside sources of information have included Dr. Karl Fickling, Coordinator of Interim Ministry for BGCT in Dallas; David Bowman, Executive Director of Tarrant Baptist Association and member at First Hurst; and Dr. Joy McInvale, Family Counselor and ministry partner at First Hurst. Articles on the experiences of other churches have also helped our discussions. September will be a key month for the team, as we will have additional time with each of our pastors to formulate, clarify, and encourage. A prayerful spirit is the key. Psalm 32:8.
