Serving in our Jerusalem
You don't have to travel half way around the world to engage in missions. Partner with us as we fulfill the mandate to minister to the least of these in Tarrant County. Local ministry offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful, long-term ministry initiatives that can transform your community. There are many ministry needs in our own backyards simply waiting for someone like you to hear the call and meet the need. Join us as we minister on a regular basis to the homeless, at-risk children and teens, and international students seeking Him.
Some of our local mission efforts are highlighted below.
Operation Back to School
We team up with 6 Stones Mission Network annually in the month of August to provide backpacks and school supplies to students in H-E-B ISD. Our goal is to provide for over 6,700 children (grades PreK–6) who come from homes that are classified as “economically challenged.” The district has classified over 875 children as “homeless."
Bellaire Crossroads Ministry
We're committed to making a positive difference in south Hurst's Bellaire community. Each Tuesday evening, a team of volunteers rolls up its sleeves and brings church to the people in the area. If you would like to volunteer to serve or provide snacks, contact Kimberly Wirt.
Night of Wonder
We partner with 6 Stones again each Christmas season to help share the joy of Christmas with 1,200 families and 3,000 children in our local school district. This awesome events blesses economically challenged families with food, clothing, and toys for the Christmas season. It doesn't stop there, though. Not only do we share the love of Christ, but we get the privilege of plainly sharing the Gospel of Jesus with these families as well.
More info can be found at the Night of Wonder website.
6 Stones Partnership
First Hurst has developed an ongoing partnership with the great folks at 6 Stones Mission Network. Birthed from a passion to become a catalyst of hope in our community, 6 Stones accomplishes great things for individuals in need, for local neighborhoods, and for the glory of our Lord. In addition to Operation Back to School and Night of Wonder, it's our privilege to be a partner with them in other events such as the Black & Blue Run for Hope, the Black & Blue Food Drive, a community garden, and Community Powered Revitalization. We're so connected to 6 Stones that our own Pastor of Missions, Kimberly Wirt, has been a member of the organization's Board of Directors. Visit the 6 Stones website to learn more about all that we strive to accomplish together.
