Welcome to Missions Friends 2009!

Our theme this year is "On Mission for Life," and we have exciting plans for the spring. The goal of Mission Friends is to help your child understand missions--whether across the street or across the world--and to prepare them for lifelong involvement in these missions.

Mission Friends provides children a great opportunity to learn about other cultures and how we take the gospel to people who have not heard. This year Mission Friends will focus on the mission efforts led by First Baptist Hurst, with an emphasis on West Africa, North Dakota, and Operation Back to School. Your child will meet with and learn from church members who have participated in these missions, and will make a prayer journal they can use to pray for missions at home.

In addition, we will study missionaries in the Bible and how they spread the news of Jesus. We will help your child develop the same skills missionaries use to share the gospel, including storytelling, organization, compassion, and flexibility. We will also work with the children to help them understand how to use those skills to tell their friends about Jesus.

Mission Friends will be Sunday evenings, August 23-November 22, from 5-7pm. We have a wonderful team of teachers who love children, have a passion for missions, and want to help your child learn. We look forward to seeing your child in Mission Friends!

Sincerely,
