Deacon Nominations

Deacon Nominations

First Hurst will accept Deacon nominations Sunday, 8/26 thru Sunday, 9/9. Nomination forms are available each Sunday in the weekly ministry guide. Alternatively, nominations can be made using the online form below. Please be in prayerful consideration of men you feel should serve the church as deacons.

Qualifications for Deacons of First Hurst

  1. Active membership in this church for at least six months. I Timothy 3:10
  2. One who makes his family a priority. I Timothy 3:12
  3. One who realizes that being a deacon is a place of service and not necessarily a place of honor and that the place given a deacon in the church is a place of service beyond the call of ordinary Christian responsibility. Act. 6:2, 3
  4. Willingness to take a Christian stand on moral issues in home, civic and community life. I Timothy 3:9
  5. One who has a proven record of service. Care of widows, for example, is a biblical mandate for deacons and a high priority for our deacon body. I Timothy 3:13
  6. One who believes that tithes and offerings are God’s plan for the support of the church. One who is financially invested in the church’s ministries. Malachi 3:10; Matthew 23:23; I Corinthians 16:2; II Corinthians 9:6-8; I Timothy 3:8
  7. One who would support and promote the total church ministry evidenced by being engaged in the church’s 3 strategies:
    Gathering regularly for worship
    Growing in a small group
Going to serve in ministry and missions. Hebrews 10:25
  8. One who believes the fundamental truths of the Bible: the Virgin Birth, the sacrificial, atoning death and resurrection of Christ, His literal coming again. I Timothy 3:9
  9. One who realizes that a deacon ought to be a spiritual example with an understanding heart. He is first and foremost a peacemaker. In the event of any misunderstanding between himself and another member, another deacon, or the pastor, he would take the initiative to make things right. Matthew 5:22-23; 18:15-17; Galatians 6:1
  10. Husband of one wife who will be a spiritual support to her husband. I Tim. 3:11-12 (This biblical requirement does not necessarily disqualify one who has been divorced, nor does it preclude a single man from service.)
  11. One who makes a conscious effort to win the lost to Christ. Acts 1:8, 6:7
  12. One who is filled with the Holy Spirit and with wisdom. Acts 6:3

Members of First Hurst are asked to please study the list of qualifications for deacons at First Baptist Hurst and then prayerfully recommend men you believe should serve the church from both campuses as deacons. Although you are free, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, to nominate as many men as you feel are worthy of this calling, we would ask you to consider limiting your recommendations to up to 12 individuals. All recommendations must be received by Sunday, September 9, 2018.

You must be a member of FBC Hurst to nominate deacons.

Please list no more than 1 name per line. At least 1 name must be listed. When finished, please scroll to the bottom of the page and click Submit.
